Summer is great time to visit Switzerland and the Alps and enjoy breathtaking view of some of the most iconic peaks of Europe, take a walk in higher altitude, visit glaciers and meet marmots


 


1. Zermatt

The first image of Switzerland that comes to mind of most people is the iconic Matterhorn peak. Or some people call it the Toblerone mountain.

It is situated on the border of Switzerland and Italy. With its 4 478 m, it is one of highest peaks in the Alps and Europe.


From the village of Zermatt, you can see this legendary peak in all its glory. Zermatt is car-free village and you can go there only with a train.

 



2. Mürren

Mürren is this magical village Jungfrau Region of the Bernese Alps, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the one of the most emblematic sights of the Swiss Alps - Eiger ( 3967), Mönch ( 4,158 m) and Jungfrau( 4,158 m).


The North Face of Eiger is one of the most challenging routes to climb in Europe.

Mürren is car free village, you can reach it with cable car and train.




 


3.Jungfraujoch: The Top of Europe

It is one of the most interesting and memorable train rides you will ever have. One of the highest train stations in the world and highest in Europe 3,454 m.

You will go through the Eiger itself to reach to reach a different world of snow, ice and glaciers. You can see the Aletsch Glacier, take a walk in the glacier and also on the glacier and enjoy a view that will take your breath away.


 


4. Aletsch Glacier- UNESCO World Heritage Site and Europe's longest Glacier

The great Aletsch Glacier originates from the highest peaks of the Alps. It is composed of four smaller glaciers converging at Konkordiaplatz, where the scientists has measured it to be 900 m deep. The huge ice river stretches over 20km .

There are several view points - the Moosfluh, Hohfluh, Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn, which are the best places to admire which you can easily reach by cable car from the villages of Fiescheralp (2212m), Bettmeralp (2000m) and Riederalp (1925m).


 


5. Stanserhorn with Cabrio Cable Car

The Cabrio Cable Car is built only in 2012 .

You will catch an old fashioned train dating back to 1893.


The trip is already breath taking. The scenery of the valley and the beautiful lakes is worth the hype.


At 1898m of altitude, you can walk around and enjoy the nature, the view and if you are lucky meat some marmots or wave at some eagles.
